We are proposing to start a course in coracle frame construction.
The course would consist of:
Morning - Introductions Workshop Health & Safety Tools and materials Skeleton gunwale, seat post and bulkhead fix First lateral and cross lateral laths Keeping her shape during construction Weaving all the remaining lateral and cross lateral lathes Second gunwale
Lunch Possibly local pub lunch
Afternoon - Keeping her true (flat bottomed) Skinning and waterproofing techniques Paddle construction Having a go in a coracle*
The idea of the course is to give you a chance to have detailed instruction and to have a go at weaving the laths and fixing them yourself, giving you more confidence to build your own. The price of the course would be in the region of £220 per person which includes the pub lunch and a coracle kit (kit is as per our Sales/Contact page). The course venue is in an attractive part of Cheshire with places to stay locally, ranging from B&B to a Caravan Club site within walking distance.
